For the 2019 edition of Independent NY, the gallery presents a two-person booth of recent works by Anders Ruhwald and Kon Trubkovich. Both artists are working with figuration and each is doing so with an enlightened approach in relationship to their previous practice. For Ruhwald, while he typically uses ceramics, these Old Man pieces include bent steel elements to represent the body. The combination of metal forms and glazed ceramic masks (heads) lend a spectral quality to these pieces. Trubkovich is well known for incorporating figures in his work, however, these new paintings image figures derived completely from the artist’s imagination – his recollection of a person or his personification of an emotion. To receive a PDF with detailed information on the works, please contact the gallery at info@moranmorangallery.com.
