Solange announces museum screening tour for new director’s cut of When I Get Home film

See all the dates below.

Solange has teamed up with museums and art institutions across the U.S. and Europe to screen a new and extended director’s cut of the film that accompanied her most recent album, When I Get Home. Originally released on Apple Music in March, the updated clip will feature “new scenes and musical arrangements,” according to a press release about the announcement.

Directed by Solange alongside the work of contributing directors Alan Ferguson, Terence Nance, Jacolby Satterwhite, and Ray Tintori, the visual paid homage to her Houston, Texas roots and featured much of the songs from the album. Later, she would release individual clips for “Binz,” “Way To The Show” and “Almeda” from the full film.

“When I was younger I would fear what the people called the Holy Spirit and what it would do to the men and women around me. I never wanted it to catch me, and was terrified of how it might transform me if it did!” Solange shared in a statement about the film. “Much of this film is a surrendering to that fear. After a really tough health year and the loss of the body that I once knew, the film is an invitation for that same spirit to manifest through me and the work I want to continue to create.”

Screenings will be held at locations including the New Orleans Museum of Art and Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris, kicking off at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas on July 17th.
